If we are here, there must be a reason

Vicolo degli Amalfitani (The Alley of the Amalfitans) is not just a name etched on a weathered stone plaque; it is a symbol, an indelible memory of our beginning.

It was right here that the door to our first home stood, the place where, for the first time, we decided to intertwine our destinies. Every step through these alleys felt like a breath of belonging, a call to something greater than ourselves. It was as if this corner of the historic center had chosen us, whispering that here we would find our refuge.

Centuries ago, it was Amalfi's ceramists who gave a soul to this place. Uprooted from their homeland, they brought their art and kilns here, giving the Fornelle district its name and creating an unbreakable bond between Amalfi and Salerno.

And, as fate would have it, Giusy sells ceramics steeped in tradition in her shop in Amalfi, nurtured by the history of that land. Is it really just a coincidence that we ended up here, in this alley that seems tailor-made for us? Or perhaps there is an invisible force, a delicate thread weaving our lives together, bringing us exactly where we are meant to be? I’ve never believed in higher powers, but there are moments, encounters, and small coincidences that speak to me like a whisper, leaving me with a doubt - almost a certainty - that maybe something truly does guide us, as though the deep connection between these two places had found its way into us as well.

For Giusy, walking through these alleys is like rediscovering Amalfi, feeling at home amidst roots and dreams, between the past and the future. For me, it’s looking at her and knowing that the beauty of her work, of her heart, is the same beauty that makes this place special.

Perhaps this is the reason. Perhaps we are here to build something that lasts, to leave our own mark, a fragment of life within these walls that have endured through the centuries. Because alleys are not just stones and streets; they are souls. And this one, above all, has become ours.

If we are here, there must truly be a reason.
